Multi-Station Support
Introducing Multi-Station Support: Enhanced Flexibility for Split-Cover Contracts
Empowering on-call firefighters with seamless station switching capabilities
We're excited to announce another game-changing update coming to iFire in the next few days that addresses one of the most common challenges faced by on-call fire services: split-cover operations. Our new Multi-Station Support feature will give firefighters the flexibility they need while managing their availability across multiple stations.
The Challenge: Balancing Work and Service
Many of our self-employed on-call firefighters work day jobs that take them to different towns and areas throughout their working week. When these crew members find themselves near another fire station during their work hours, they often provide invaluable split-cover support – responding to that station's call-outs while maintaining their commitment to their home station.
Until now, managing this dual availability has been a complex juggling act, making it difficult for station officers to maintain that crucial 360-degree view of crew availability across locations.
The Solution: Seamless Station Switching
Our new Multi-Station Support feature will transform how split-cover operations are managed in iFire. Here's what's coming:
Effortless Station Switching Firefighters will be able to easily switch between stations directly within the app, updating their availability status for whichever station they're currently supporting. No more complex workarounds or missed coverage opportunities.
Real-Time Visibility Station officers will gain instant visibility into which crew members are providing split-cover support, ensuring accurate resource planning and response coordination.
Simplified Workflow As shown in the video below, the intuitive interface will make switching between stations as simple as a few taps, allowing firefighters to focus on what matters most – being ready to respond when their community needs them.
Why This Matters
This enhancement isn't just about convenience – it's about maximizing community protection. When firefighters can seamlessly indicate their availability across multiple stations:
Coverage gaps will be eliminated – stations will know exactly who's available and where
Response times will improve – the closest available crew can respond regardless of their "home" station
Resource allocation will become more strategic – officers can make informed decisions about crew deployment
Built for the Real World
We developed this feature based on direct feedback from on-call fire services who face these split-cover scenarios daily. We understand that on-call firefighting isn't just a hobby – it's a commitment that needs to work around the realities of full-time employment and daily life.
The Multi-Station Support feature reflects our ongoing commitment to providing tools that adapt to your operational needs, not the other way around.
